More than just bananas
At Anne&Max, enjoyment is key, but in a responsible way. Hence our choice of Bionana brand bananas that we incorporate into our Yogurt&Cereals breakfast. These bananas are organic, deliciously sweet and tell a great story about corporate social responsibility and a low ecological footprint!

Bionana bananas come from the Banamiel cooperative in the Dominican Republic. This partnership came about because we at Anne&Max want to know where our products come from and who is involved. Banamiel distinguishes itself by emphasizing social equity and corporate social responsibility. Each grower, large or small, has an equal say within the organization and participates in the day-to-day operations. This not only promotes the quality of the product, but also strengthens the community.
Anne's in the lead
Everyone throughout the chain gets a fair price for their contribution. With the emphasis on her. Because in addition to social equality, the Banamiel organization also pays great attention to women's participation. Many leadership positions are held by women, which is unusual, and far from obvious, in the Caribbean.

Organic & Fair
Organic cultivation leaves a smaller footprint on our planet than conventional cultivation. Bionana bananas use natural fertilizers and disease control, such as garlic and chili. In conventional banana cultivation, disease control is in blue bags with synthetic chemicals (much more damaging to the environment) and liquid synthetic fertilizer is used that washes away when it rains and ends up somewhere else. To prevent this, rocks are placed under the plants. This whole process is not necessary in organic cultivation. Here the banana leaves naturally fall to the ground and remain under the plants as a natural fertilizer. This careful approach results in a longer growing period, giving the bananas that intense and sweet taste.
The journey of these bananas is as thoughtful as their cultivation. They are transported by boat - the more environmentally friendly choice compared to air transport - and arrive in the Netherlands within about 24 days of harvest. This quick and efficient process ensures that the bananas stay fresh and retain their flavor and is a conscious choice to keep the ecological footprint as low as possible. The same goes for the packaging materials; Bionana uses as little plastic as possible throughout the chain.

An honest breakfast
Every banana you taste in our Yogurt&Cereals and Max breakfasts contributes to this greater goal. The bananas are of the very best quality and taste the way they should, because they grow entirely on the power of Mother Nature. So you are not only enjoying a delicious and healthy breakfast, but also support a chain of sustainable agriculture, fair trade and entrepreneurship. Make your morning a moment of conscious enjoyment!
