Our month special: the Brandt & Levie Hot Dog

We have been eagerly anticipating the launch of the Brandt & Levie Hotdog, in collaboration with sausage maker Samuel Levie, for several weeks. And today it's finally here! Our monthly special is made with a sausage that consists of 35% vegetables and 65% responsible meat, and is available to order in our living rooms throughout the month of March. The Brandt & Levie Hotdog perfectly reflects the mission of Brandt & Levie and Anne&Max. So we can also take you step by step into the world of Planet Friendly food.

Imagine sitting in your favorite corner of our restaurant, surrounded by the smell of fresh coffee and the pleasant atmosphere that feels like your living room. You take a bite of the Brandt & Levie Hot Dog and you're not only enjoying a culinary masterpiece, but also contributing to a better world in the meantime. In any case, Anne thinks it sounds like the perfect lunch date with Max this weekend!

This is not just any hot dog. It is a special sausage that, like the classic variant, is smoked on beech wood in Brandt & Levie's sausage factory. To introduce even more people to this Planet Friendly alternative, we decided to join forces. The mastermind behind our menus, Lars van Leijen, and Samuel Levie came up with the Brandt & Levie Hotdog. The hot dog consists of responsible meat, locally harvested beets, chickpeas, fresh coleslaw, dukkah and organic beet ketchup. With each ingredient carefully chosen to make both your taste buds and the planet happy.

Brandt & Levie Hot Dog

Joint mission

With the Brandt & Levie Hot Dog, we want to draw attention to the protein transition toward an increasingly plant-based diet. Less meat consumption reduces greenhouse gas emissions, preserves ecosystems and reduces pressure on natural resources. By offering an alternative that both tastes and feels good, we show that sustainability and taste go hand in hand. Our monthly special invites you to enjoy consciously. Wobbe van Zoelen: "I believe that 'caring' about a sustainable world lies with us as entrepreneurs and not with the guest. To lend a hand to meat eaters who want to make more conscious choices but don't want to switch to a completely plant-based diet, the Brandt & Levie Hot Dog is a nice middle ground. With initiatives like this, guests can enjoy a tasty, healthy and honest dish."

Brandt & Levie was founded thirteen years ago by Jiri, Geert and Samuel. Three chefs with a mission: to inspire people to eat less and better meat. As chefs, they made their first sausages in the kitchens of the Amsterdam catering industry. That's where a great love for sausage began. To learn how to make the best dry sausage, the men traveled to Italy. In the land of dried meats, they apprenticed with the best Italian sausage makers. Here they learned the importance of really good meat but meanwhile saw that many sausages are made from pigs that have had a bad life. Also from pigs from the Netherlands. That had to change. With a mission they returned to The Netherlands and started a new adventure: their own sausage factory, where only the tastiest sausage is made from well kept pigs. Handmade in Amsterdam.

Worstelingen

While we are serving the Planet Friendly hot dog at Anne&Max for an entire month, you also have a chance to win the book "Worstelingen". This isn't just any book; it's Samuel Levie's insights on the food industry, in which he explores the struggles and opportunities for meat lovers to contribute to a more sustainable future. It's an inspiring and enlightening story, and it just might be the beginning of your personal food revolution.

Book Worstelingen

Samuel Levie, co-founder Brandt & Levie: "Together with my companions Jiri and Geert, we founded Brandt & Levie with the mission to inspire people to eat less and better meat. Striving for a better world often starts with small changes in our daily habits. With both this book, and initiatives like the Brandt & Levie Hotdog, I hope that more people will start the conversation about the future of our food system. I want to show that it is not at all difficult to reduce your meat consumption and that no concessions are needed on taste."

So, are you ready to change the world a little bit with every bite you take? Then stop by one of our cozy living rooms this month and sample the Brandt & Levie Hot Dog. And who knows, maybe you'll win a copy of Worstelingen too!
