Sometimes the day starts with a cappuccino, a smile from the barista, and a good conversation. But not for every child. In the Netherlands, there are thousands of children who start the day without breakfast or with an empty lunchbox. No fuel to dream, learn, and grow. That feels unfair. That's why we're joining forces with Stichting Eerlijke Start (Fair Start Foundation) this school year.

12,000 school meals

With a donation of€25,000, we’ll provide more than12,000 school mealsduring the 2025–2026 school year. This gives children growing up in poverty the chance to start their day with energy, confidence, and a sense of belonging. We also lend a hand during the holidays by providing breakfasts in the classroom and bags of treats to take home.

However, there are also many children who go to school without breakfast, something that can have far-reaching consequences for a child’s life and opportunities. As a company, we are part of society. We believe that everyone should walk into the classroom with a full stomach during the most important phase of their lives. We can’t change the world, but we can contribute to a foundation that helps children, schools, and parents with respect and enthusiasm.”

A fair chance

The Fair Start Foundationensures that children in the Netherlands can still participate. They collaborate with schools and organizations and provide breakfasts and lunches every day. Kristel ter Bruggen, founder ofthe Fair Start Foundation:“In the Netherlands, one in eleven children grows up in poverty. Many of them go to school without breakfast, which directly affects their health, concentration, and ability to learn. Thanks to the support of partners like Anne&Max, we can work together to ensure that these children, too, can start their day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast. Because a good breakfast should be a given for every child, just like equal opportunities.”

More than a smile

Every day, our 30 living rooms provide a place where people share what matters—with each other, and now also with children who desperately need it.“For me, entrepreneurship is always about more than just a smile,”says Wobbe van Zoelen. “It’s about small choices that, together, make a big difference. That could be a fair-trade espresso, but it could also be a good, healthy meal for a child who would otherwise go to school without breakfast. Ultimately, it all comes down to the same thing: doing good and caring for others—especially for the generation that still has the potential to grow in any direction.”
