On Kerkplein, right next to the imposing Grote Kerk, you’ll find Anne&Max in a unique corner building that once served as The Hague’s post office. It’s a place where people have been stopping by for generations—to meet up and then go on their way. These days, it’s no longer for the post office, but for specialty coffee, a hearty breakfast, or a pleasant spot to catch your breath right in the heart of the city. And all while even the youngest guests enjoy themselves in the play area and can choose from their own kids’ menu.
Inside, it’s bright and spacious, with cozy seating areas and large tables where you can work or meet up. Can you spot the influence of The Hague-based artist Escher in the living room? Take a close look at the floor, the lamps, and the interior. Whether you stop by early for a chai latte with something sweet, enjoy a leisurely lunch, or wrap up the afternoon with high tea, at Anne&Max, you can take your time.
Working with a view of the Great Church
Anne&Max isn’t just a great place to meet up, but also to focus on work for a few hours. Take a seat at one of the large tables, open your laptop, and alternate between working on your to-do list and sipping organic filter coffee. It’s a nice break from your home office, but with all the peace and coziness around you. On weekdays, you’re more than welcome to make this your workspace. Only on weekends, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., do we like to keep the tables free for guests coming in for breakfast and lunch.
